The mission of Special Education at Odyssey Community School is to provide the highest quality educational program in a safe and positive learning environment whereby all students are empowered to reach their individual potential, become responsible, productive community members, respect and value themselves and others, and become life-long learners, equipped to make intelligent choices today and tomorrow.

We are committed to identifying and meeting the diverse needs of each student through individualized educational programming. It is our purpose to work with students, families, sending districts, community members, and related service providers in order to promote each students success and well being as students prepare for their future.

At Odyssey, we use specialized designed instruction which is linked to district curriculums and Common Core State Standards to ensure that all students with disabilities reach their maximum academic, social, and emotional potential. Through our inclusion program, we have sufficient staff to meet students' needs while providing services, accommodations, and supports within the general education classroom so that all students have equal access to the curriculum. Special education teachers, general education teachers, related service providers, and paraprofessionals use a variety of instructional models through co-teaching. Specific subjects are taught in an individualized or small group setting with specialized methods to ensure success to make sure each student is provided instruction in their least restrictive environment.

We love positive communication.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact your child's assigned teacher or Lisa Kimyachi.
