Welcome! My name is Michelle Bashaw and I am a proud co-principal here at Odyssey. Prior to Odyssey, I was a sixth-grade teacher, mathematics specialist, and lead teacher in Ellington Public Schools. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (2012), Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction (2013), and Sixth-Year diploma in Educational Administration (2022) from the University of Connecticut. Outside of Odyssey, I enjoy spending time with my two dogs Lucy and Birdie, playing and watching sports, and taking on creative projects.
When I visited Odyssey for the first time I was immediately drawn to the excitement and kindness the students and staff exuded. After meeting our students and staff, I knew Odyssey was the place for me. My goal at Odyssey is to continue building on what is great about us. I also want to ensure that we have open communication and collaboration with students, families, community members, teachers, and staff so we can work together to improve in any areas we deem appropriate. Ensuring equitable outcomes for all students has been my guiding principle my entire career. I will continue using this principle to guide my decision making and leadership actions here at Odyssey.
